Huh! The instructions in the link given by Taynguyenem_21 are close enough, it does work.
Here's what you do:
"It’s about menu configuration."
1. Go to Joomla Backend > Menus > Main Menu
2. Find your home page, click on this to edit.
3. On the right side, select "Integration Options"
4. Set "Show a Feed Link" to "Hide"
5. Save it
